Crabbe & St. John - a Real Western
Neufeld (Producer) and Newfield (Director) actually got a western movie script from Joe O'Donnell - hooray! Yes, there's a little space for St. John to be silly, but that takes place during a dance sequence, where he cuts some humorous and acrobatic dance steps. Otherwise, they've got him down to an acceptable grimace or two and a bit on wobbly legs. Crabbe (Billy Carson) is good as usual - although they do give him a LOT of riding to do, as well as some fighting and shooting. The plot has the bad guys, John Merton and Charles King, who want control of the fertile and profitable "badlands" trying to cause mayhem by pitting Crabbe and St. John of the Pony Express against a new stage line. They'll stop at nothing to accomplish their ends - horse rustling, arson, jail breaks, and murder. Their henchman include regular bad guys Kermit Maynard and Jack Ingram among others. The obligatory beauty is Patti McCarthy (Sally Farrell) daughter of the stage line owner Frank LaRue (Tom Farrell). McCarthy, according to IMDb, appeared in 34 movies between 1939-46, before moving to Hawaii to work in advertising sales for a newspaper agency. Tex Williams (bass player) and the Big Slicker Band give us 2 or 3 good songs during the town dance sequence. Enjoy.

Good if you like these sort of PRC b-western films
Some of the scenes drag, but for the most part this is an enjoyable film that does everything it is expected to do...
Sound quality is a little bit iffy, but not too bad.
